| Prof. David BassirDongguan University of Technology (SSHMC Lab), China Biography: David Bassir is Professor at the French University of Technology and Senior Researcher at ENS-Université Paris-Saclay. He earned his MSc and PhD in Structural Optimization from the University of Franche-Comté. He currently serves as Director of the Smart Structural Health Monitoring and Control Laboratory (SSHMC Lab) at Dongguan University of Technology. His prior administrative and professional appointments include Dean of the University Institutes of Technology, University of Lorraine; Science and Technology Counsellor at the French Embassy in China; and Director General of Research at ESTP-ENSAM (Paris). He also worked as a spacecraft engineer at GECI Technology, contributing to multiple space agencies and industrial groups including Arianespace (France) and the Astrium Group. Prof. Bassir has held invited visiting professorships at leading universities and research institutions worldwide, including Delft University of Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, the University of Oviedo, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston), and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has published over 120 academic outputs in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and conference proceedings, covering research fields of composite materials, parameter identification, additive manufacturing, structural optimization, and multiscale modelling and analysis. He serves on expert committees of numerous international organisations and prestigious scientific societies, and is a member of leading professional bodies including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and SPIE (the International Society for Optics and Photonics). |
